Lovepreet Singh who was just 24 years old ended his life when his wife, now settled in Canada gave a thumbs up to his warning of committing suicide if she doesn't return home.
Lovepreet was under havey burden of loan of 2.5-3 million rupees which he took to send his wife to Canada but his wife Beant Kaur disowned him completely and refused to return after reaching there.
This is a growing phenomenon in the state of Punjab, where women get's married to a guy on a contract that husband will send her abroad for studies on his expenses. But in many cases wife's dumped their husband's after reaching abroad. Recently reported by Men's Day Out & IndiaTv that in the last 5 years 3600 men have been duped of rupees 1.5 billion due to this contract marriage scam.
But government is very reluctant to act on this issue. On the contrary India brought in a law by which passport of a man can be cancelled on wife's Complain and court's can even issue RedCorner notice against the husband.
But when a man turns out to be the victim, whole society as well as government and law makers turns a bilnd eye to it. Some even go to the extent of Justifying actions of those con women.
Meanwhile scoundrels from Canada came into that con women's support, Justifying her robbery of 2.5 million & abetment of suicide.She commited a felony as per Indian laws. She is booked under IPC 420 and 306. Indian government deports husbands if they are booked, but doesn't do the same for wives.
So Where does women get this confidence comes from to commit such crimes?
When you know that the biased law and society will protect you no matter what, even if you are a criminal.
